I watched Black Swan today! It was really good but really disturbing (because it was so good). It's really hard to watch self-mutilation. Freaks me out ttm. How am I going to be a psychologist? I suppose that's why I want to do child psych. Hopefully I'll avoid all this. But anyway, Natalie Portman's acting is fantastically convincing. Mila Kunis is so pretty. Oh there were a lot of wanking scenes. FEMALE wanking scenes. And some lesbian action too. Quite off.

Walked around Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens with my sis then I stopped by Carlton Gardens on my way home. There's nothing like chilling in Melbourne's parks. I should have brought my book, which I still haven't touched since I've landed :\

So I've been spending my time playing roomie's keyboard (cos I finished misfits and the rest of my downloads haven't finished). I really need to buy her a keyboard stand. During today's second lecture, I suddenly remembered that I was 18 and then I felt really really old. Story of my life.

omg seriously the lecturer needs to pick up the pace. CANNOT TANK. He and Miss Beh need to average out their speeds. He took an eternity to show us how to freaking MULTIPLY MATRICES. Doesn't help that we've learn this all before because that just leaves me sincerely bored. He took something like 10 minutes to explain the simple idea that for AB and BA to be the same size, A and B must be square matrices. Seriously, even the most bogan students would find this slow.

At least the tute and my tutor are useful. The lab class tutor, however, is entirely enigmatic in his way of giving help, so it ends up not helping much. But it's okay, I sat next to a smart person who could help me. Awesome possum.

I was going to write that 2010 was a pretty boring blah year but then I realised that it was rather eventful. Despite time passing so quickly, the beginning of the year somehow seems so distant in memory, longer than a year anyway. I'm not going to spend much longer reflecting on 2010 because it's now 11.40pm. I had a good dinner with the family. Good food and red wine that I actually liked wow. Anyway, alcohol really puts me to sleep. I have finally found my long sought-after cure to insomnia.

2011 has surreptitiously crept up on me. I swear, it seemed so far away and now it's grabbing me by the neck and trying to shake me back into reality. A lot of big change to handle but I'll write about that another time.

Isn't it unfortunate that I spent the last day of 2010 being a mute? And I'm probably going to spend the first day of 2011 mute too.

I spent a lot of today feeling thankful for the people around me still being around me.

Rapunzel with my dear foty. Good movie, great animation, fantastic soundtrack. I NEVER KNEW THAT ZACHARY LEVI COULD SING. But I guess if ke$ha can, anyone can. foty and I agree that there were some bits that would be a bit freaky for kids.

Narniaaaaa! Quite heart warming as usual but somehow missing the oomph of the previous movie. It was way eerie too though, especially with all the deatheater fog. If I was a kid I would probably have had nightmares for a week. foty and twin said that it was really different from the books. Kind of glad I haven't read them (not that I'd remember much even if I did). I loved Eustace's lines. So tart, so English. Found myself rolling my eyes at some of Aslan's lines, mainly because the references were totally unsubtle (and I'm so totally unreligious). Ben Barnes is still as good-looking as ever, possibly better.

I was wrapping christmas presents just now and I left the pricetags on 2 bloody hell. I realised (amazingly, thank goodness) and had to unwrap and rewrap them. It happened the other day as well with ALL the presents I wrapped -.- This is how you spell LOSER.

Speaking of Christmas gifts, my mum got me BOTH a coach wallet and bag for my birthday/christmas gift. Kind of shocked. She's becoming increasingly generous with her budget and it makes me feel quite shitty cos I spend a lot of her money on a regular basis anyway and I don't need her to buy me stuff like this :( I'd be happy even if she bought me cupcake tins or cookie sheets (which I would like too hoho). I told my mum that it was a rather large sum for a present and she said that altogether it's slightly more ex than my sister's christmas present and mine's birthday/christmas so it's okay. I suppose she was trying to be fair. urghurgh when I landed I actually told her I don't need a christmas present and the zara jacket could be my birthday present. I need to finish studying quickly and make lots of money and give my mum big birthday angpaos every year. After I get married (that's a total 'if') I will give her big cny angpaos too.

I need to relish these last 9 days I have of being 17 because I'll never be 17 again (no zefron reference intended). Youth is slipping away like a raging river.

Oh yah yesterday when I went to "run" I saw a really pretty tortoise shell cat! AND ALL THAT I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS FRIGGIN' XIST LOCUS AND INACTIVATION.

Today was an awesome omnomnom day! I had pig intestines, tofu, oyster omelette (didn't eat the oyster though) and sambal sweet potato leaves for lunch. Sam lou hor fun for dinner. yummms. I also made honey granola cupcakes! I stacked them too early though so they are kind of flat :( more scone-ish than cupcake-ish. They taste good though! AND HEALTHY. Running this morning was so fail. I strolled to the canal then ran something like 10m before I started strolling again. At random points of my stroll I attempted picking up the pace again but these sporadic bursts were extremely short-lived. All in all, my fitness level is approximately zero.

Apart from fitness fail, skin fail. Forever fail no matter what I do. Life is unfair.

Also, Chinese fail. At dinner, I said 四季豆 but the waitress heard 狮子头. Imagine my (and my dad's) surprise when a bowl of meatballs was brought to the table. Granted, the waitress was an elderly shanghainese with heavily accented mandarin. But still, how shameful.

yea man I'm always somewhat bemused and amused when people are so incredibly impressed by asians speaking english. I remember last year this tourist asked me for directions to lygon and looked so flabbergasted when I responded haha.

Anyway, I'm really bored and my first download of glee was some crap file so I have to re-download it and thus I am passing time by rewatching super old community channel vids. I also watched some shane dawson, michelle phan and kevjumba. Oh and a bit of move media but they kind of bored me to death.

Last night on my way back, when I got of the train at clementi, I suddenly felt kind of sad (lennon's ns heaviness spreading). I'm really going to miss my neighbourhood after spending the past 9 years of my life living here, well sort of, anyway. Coming back to visit is never really the same as living in the place. Kind of hard to believe that my parents are really going to move to London. Holiday plans are probably going to be pretty screwed up after that, but it's okay, I'll work through it. My mum's pretty hyped up about being able to go to the US and europe more easily so I will probably be visiting places other than CHINA for family vacations. Not bad having 3 homes.

There was a dead bug on my exam table. Small but, nevertheless, disgusting.

On my way to the exam I saw this guy wearing a Neo-esque coat. Ankle-length leather is inappropriate for a 25 degree day. It's even more inappropriate when paired with shorts, hairy legs and chunky shoes with thick rolled down socks.

Last night I dreamt of sports day and band seniors and buses at tram stops and rain washing away a drum set. Very weird. I miss playing the trumpet a lot :(

I just got my passport photo taken for my exchange form and I look like a druggie cos the rings under my eyes are incredibly dark. If I ever become a lecturer/tutor in charge of exchange credit approval (p=0) I will vow not to be like the people I have to deal with now. One of the most offensive things in the world, I find, is when people insult my music. For instance, when people ask in a meaningful tone, "why do you listen to this?". I understand when people say "not my kind of music" or "I prefer something else" but there's no need to go anywhere beyond that. If I've learnt anything at all from my music psychology and music & health lectures, it's that the music we choose reflects some aspect of ourselves, so technically insinuating something about someone's taste in music would be implying that about them too. NOT COOL.

Okay I haven't blogged in a long time and though there's been lots I've been meaning to talk about I just can't seem to remember it now. Ah well.

My stupid vodafone modem enjoys disconnecting itself and being unable to establish network settings when I'm talking to people on msn. Really annoying. It's very sad because when it's rainy, my connection is snail-paced.

sigh sigh my love-hate relationship with calculus feels more like hate than anything now. My answers for the assignment are really weird so I'm pretty sure they're wrong, which means I need to go meet someone I don't want to meet to get help gosh. And seriously, differential equations, in particular mixing problems, are the bane of my existence. I have decided that if possible, I'm not going to take anymore math subjects.

I finally cut my hair! The hair dresser was making Lennon's "omg that's a fugly bag" face when he was cutting my fringe. I don't know how it helped but my fringe isn't screwed yay. I'm worried that tomorrow I'll look like a ball or mushroom after I wash my hair.

Today I sheltered an old lady with my umbrella and helped her cross the road. + 10 brownie points (Y)

I ate SO much yesterday. When we sat down to eat dinner, it was only 4+ and we finished before 6pm. I haven't had such an early dinner.. EVER. I had hot pot bul go gi which was to die for! The danghoon and mushrooms were so good omg. Then I had greentea ice cream and freddos surprise and I seriously felt like I was going to burst out of my jeans. Watching masterchef junior after coming back wasn't much help. Then we played Indian poker to finish fish's leftover wine from last sem. urghurgh I really find the aftertaste of alcohol very bitter. not to mention I turn red really fast.

I love Sara Bareilles' new album! But urgh the version I downloaded has this female voice over that says "MUSIC ON DEMAND" in a heavy Amercian accent in the middle of EVERY song and it's really off and annoying. Talk about mood killing seriously. I'll go download them again another day when I'm not supposed to be doing an essay.

I feel like I'm going to freak out during the test tomorrow and forget everything even though I've revised it. I know I won't though. Well, I'd better not either way.

I'm more worried for my essays. I bet fish is going to ask me when I see her Tuesday "so many words have you written for music and health?" and I'll say "none?" and she'll say "HUH? then psych leh?" and I'll say "haven't started either" and she'll say "chia zhao xian! can you please do your work?!" and then I'll feel very stressed because this conversation will repeat itself when I see her again on Thursday D:

Shuffle playing songs I haven't heard in a while. I realise that everytime I like an artiste/band, I obsess over them, though my obsession is really shortlived (pretty much reflects my attention span). I remember being crazy about Jack's Mannequin but after a while I found them irritating and still kind of do. I've kind of gone off dcfc too. Then there was Feist after watching Paris Je T'aime and Regina Spektor after Prince Caspian. Thanks to taptap there was NeverShoutNever! who I find EXTREMELY 难听 now. Clazziquai, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, of course John Mayer, CNBlue and Westlife. Hmm yea.
