I think animal cruelty is one of the worst crimes in the world but it's more or less impossible to give them up as food lest we screw up the ecosystem. Of course we shouldn't eat too much because that would screw up the ecosystem too. So I'm sorry, but I'm not going to give up shark meat because I take shark's fin or shark cartilage too and I won't give up foie gras because I do enjoy eating the rest of the duck too.

I actually wrote a much longer paragraph but I decided it was rather too hefty and it sounded weird and deleted it.

And since Serene has been spending her time prof thio's anti-gay argument, my view: Gay sex doesn't bear much impact on anyone. It's their sex life, let them choose who they want to spend it with man.

All the "offensive" words in death cab songs sound so unoffensive. when he says "you're damn right", the tone is more like he's saying "I love you" and when he says "reeked of piss", it sounds like "I smell pretty flowers" or something.

Australia was pretty good. Worth about.. $7.50? (compare Bolt was worth $6) All the mixed kids in the film were really cute. Some parts of the film were really sad and touching but other parts were just utterly what-the-hell. Hugh Jackman looks better with facial hair than without because it covers up his somewhat lopsided jawline (not like mine's very symmetrical or anything). Brenda was so funny.. every time something bad was about to happen she started chanting "oh shit! oh shit!"

My mum is so mean. She looked at my sister's face and told me "her face is so oily I can see my reflection in it".

I spent my entire morning clearing my room, again. It's super neat now because my sister finally cleared her stuff too. NOW YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE TABLETOPS. SO COOL RIGHT!

And then, my entire family spent most of our afternoon putting up curtains because my mum was scolding us for not helping her. Okay fine I didn't do much but I DID put hooks on two curtains and one valance and hung up two curtains.

I had shark meat for dinner. My mum was all "better you eat the shark than the shark eat you". It was actually quite nice. Yum yum yum.
whee I actually had fun at my family dinner today. I have spastic cousins and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think I'm coming down with a sore throat.

I'm too lazy to blog really..
  • 23rd. go read serene's blog about our birthday. I had lots of fun thank you sk8!
  • 24th. family christmas party was spent playing taptap and singing carols very out of tune. it was spastic to the max and more.
  • 25th. dad's friend's christmas party. the only thing possibly more boring: physics lessons. their house is really nice though and good food too.
I sincerely hope that yesterday was the last of this year's excruciatingly boring christmas parties. I mean I love christmas and I'm all for sharing holiday cheer with family and friends but if you experienced the boredom I had to sit through, I'd rather have.. done my amath tys haha.

ANYWAY, before I was thrown into the depths of unconquerable ennui of my dad's friend's party, my cousin came over and we made thorough use of photobooth. Brenda you're sad, you shouldn't camwhore alone. And Brenda, you're even more sad, you didn't even know you had photobooth. Haha but I love you anyway foty :D

I think I shall blog again later when my brain's actually fully functioning (as fully as it ever does anyway).

Monday, December 22, 2008

Oh look it's past 12. Happy birthday to me :) Thank you to everyone for all your birthday wishes and presents. Thanks for the Christmas wishes and presents in advance too.

Anyway 2gy party was relatively small but really fun anyway :D we watched hsm. yes. HSM. omg. hahaha it was so funny. Then we tried to learn the dance moves from Bop to the Top which was obviously going to be a failure to begin with. And then we(only sarah and farhana actually) attempted to reenact the retarded emo version of What I've Been Looking For, which was also a retarded fail.

Shayne got her ears pierced today! It was all quite funny. You should have seen the look on the salesperson's face when she realised that four of us had come just to give Shayne moral support. And even funnier was the look on the lady's face when she held the marker to Shayne's ear thus initiating Shayne's squealing. "Girl it's just a pen!" read the rest on Shayne's blog.

hmm 1:15 and I'm not tired yet. must be the sugar high from the chocolate cake.
In case you didn't understand, blue inside red meant fifty dollar notes inside angbaos. XIAOK MINGBAI MA?

SO since I've gotten one birthday angbao, I'm not so broke. Yay.

I stuffed myself silly today. Or rather yesterday since it's already past midnight. Whoa time flies. Anyway, for lunch I ate a lot of butter oat softshell crab, crispy catfish and meesua. Then tonight was my birthday dinner so I had a large slab of foie gras, which was pretty good but not as good as I had hoped, and fabulous roasted kurobuta.

And the highlight of every dinner, DESSERT. The best valrhona chocolate cake and semifreddo I've ever had. Yes brenda if I never get rich and famous enough, then you'll get this instead of the chocolate buffet (which is in vietnam btw, not the fullerton one).

Yay for chocolate!

I don't know why I was so amused by this.
That Crooked Smile♥ says: (10:41:13 PM)
oh shit
groovy says: (10:41:13 PM)
oh crap

I predict coming improvement in my financial circumstances because I should be seeing some blue inside some red soon :)

I do hope I predict correctly.

Today I spent about three and a half hours in the salon, part of which was spent having some thick paste that smelt very much like ammonium hydroxide smeared on my hair. I swear my nose feels like when you've done tests for ammonia gas and the "pungent" odour just lingers and lingers and lingers..

So I didn't get pink highlights in the end because apparently pink fades really quickly. Instead, I was supposed to get blue but horror of horrors! IT LOOKS GREEN. Now to pray that the rest of the world miraculously turns colour blind overnight.

It's so saddening you know, counting the measly remnants of my savings. I thought I had only $2 and a few cents left.

But I never realised that I had so many coins. After counting them, I'm now $9 richer.

As if that's going to last me till the end of the year either way..

Damn.

twin, yes phuket does have internet but unfortunately, I had to pay an unreasonably large amount just to use the com for 15 minutes so I chose to forgo it. And I didn't update before I left because there was nothing really to update about unless you wanted another inane post about how bored I was.

My shoulders are sunburnt! Though definitely not as bad as Serene's the other time. And my mum nearly wrenched of my arm and my dad almost caused me to sprain my ankle on the same day. AND at every meal, even when we were indoors, we were either harassed by thousands of houseflies, which were intent on irritating us, or attacked by millions of mosquitoes that had serious cases of blood lust.

But other than that phuket was a lot of fun! The trip was a rather indulgent one. We stayed at this villa which was super plush. It had like 3 tvs, 2 dvd players, a minimum of 5 pillows and a bolster for each bed, a bathroom about the size of my study (there was another normal sized one too) and a pool. The service is definitely worthy of the hotel's 5 stars and so are the restaurants there.

Sorry no just-came-back-from-overseas presents for you all unless you want seashells.

Anyway I'm glad I'm back and GOSH I'VE MISSED MY PHONE AND MY COM.

THE EPIC ADVENTURES OF BRENDA, SERENE AND ZHAO

We trekked down the road in the searing mid-afternoon heat in search of the elusive riding centre. After a few wrong turns, retracing of our steps and more walking,we finally reached the stables, only to find that we weren't allowed to ride the horses (because there weren't even any horses there, only ponies)! Standing in the sweltering sun, we attempted to flag a cab to get ourselves back to the land of familiarity that is orchard road. Fate seemed against us and about six taxis zoomed passed us without appearing to have noticed us and our outstretched arms. Just as we thought all hopes of getting a cab were lost, A TAXI STOPPED FOR US, finally giving us respite from the mugginess and scorching fervor of the sun.

Okay whatever so not the drama. But SERENE tried to flag a cab that was on the other side of the road and the driver did some weird indeterminable gesture which she insisted meant that he'll u-turn and pick us up. As a result, we didn't take another free taxi which passed us a bit after the first. We waited.. and waited.. and waited but there was no sign of the first cab at all! And brenda and I have to deal with "Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded" on infinite repeat. Eventually the cab did come back WITH SOMEONE ELSE INSIDE. Like OKAY, so much for serene's faith in the cabbie being rewarded.

Anyway thanks for the Obama stuff twin! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Wtf I have an english test on the first day of orientation at trinity. What a warm welcome.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANICE :D And thanks for the lunch treat too!

Shanice's birthday outing was uber uber fun!

I LOVE THE SKYRIDE AND THE LUGE even though I nearly crashed the luge :) I wish we could have gone twice. Carmen spent most of her time screaming, as usual, and warranted numerous weird looks from the people around us. She also decided to wave to random people going in the opposite direction on the skyride and made them think that she was the retard that she is. HURH the stupid little boy behind us in the queue for the luge said we were lousy. stupid little boy.

Cycling (in the rain) was fun too! I rode a tandem bike with sub and was overwhelmed by the paranoia of crashing. But we didn't. Carmen was screaming the whole way again for no apparent reason and BRENDA. YOU'RE DANGEROUS TO CYCLE AROUND. Suddenly swerve left then swerve right. I'd hate to be in the car when you're driving if that day ever comes.

I've succesfully managed to get myself addicted to Katy Perry's Hot n Cold by playing it too many times on taptap. And now I'm addicted to taptap too! I'm so pissed off because I'm stuck at 99% accuracy and somehow just can't hit 100%.

Anyway, I had a REALLY REALLY weird dream last night that Jan and Shayne were trying to teach all the sec4s how to hiphop. I think Shayne said something about needing to have a hoodie in order to do the dance but no one was listening to her.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Oh disgusting a beetle flew into the ceiling fan and landed on the floor half dead. It finally died and is still lying on my bedroom floor. I am NOT going to touch it. Gross.

My sister showed me this AND I NOW LOVE ROBERT PATTINSON. WHOO.

He also says, “When I read it, I was convinced Stephenie was convinced that she was Bella, and it was like a book that wasn’t supposed to be published. It was like reading her sexual fantasy, especially when she said it was based on a dream and it was like, ‘Oh I’ve had this dream about this really sexy guy,’ and she just writes this book about it. Like some things about Edward are so specific, I was just convinced, like, ‘This woman is mad. She’s completely mad and she’s in love with her own fictional creation.’ And sometimes you would feel uncomfortable reading this thing. It’s kind of a sick pleasure in a lot of ways.”

Omg love love love. My sentiments exactly! Yay for Robert Pattinson. :)

Anyway, regardless, Michael Buckley thought that Twilight was a good movie so that's a bit of redemption for the book I guess.

My sister also showed me this, which was rather DISTURBING on a number of levels.

I FINALLY got down to clearing my room and study. It took three garbage bags and I'm not even completely done yet. I likely spent more time sneezing and blowing my nose than actually clearing but ah well.

Just to prove how long my stuff's been rotting in my cupboards, I found:
  • a large stack of PETS worksheets from p6 (and other cloze passages and stuff)
  • concert programme from Soiree Musicale, SCGS Khoo Auditorium, 26th & 27th March 2004
  • my sec1 homework file, complete with unfinished worksheets and unsigned tests inside
  • french notes and test papers
I had a miraculously small amount of junk from sec2. I probably cleared at the end of that year?

I must say my handwriting in sec1 was really scary and messy. I should do a compare contrast to my current handwriting.

Eeyuch.

Today was a rather fun retarded day that involved a lot of money, psp, iphone games, screaming and going to the toilet. My phone was ULTRA wonky! The camera was screwed today then got fixed then got screwed again then stayed screwed then got fixed then screwed then finally fixed again. We took photos while it was screwed.

Look! Shayne and brenda look like zombies from house of the dead! Tammie's such a pro at that game! And Jan is stressful to play around haha. My arm still aches from gripping the freaking gun so tightly for so long.

And karyn looks like a ghost!

Jan probably looks the most normal.

Thursday, November 27, 2008

I watched the last 15 minutes or so of Don't Forget the Lyrics Singapore and it was SOOO not on par with the US version.

Gurmit Singh is nowhere near as charismatic and funny as Wayne Brady, which basically makes the show a flop because a bad host ruins any show. And in order to build "tension and suspense", they take so freaking long to reveal the lyrics that whatever "tension and suspense" was initially built would have DISSIPATED. AND they totally mangled Jason Mraz's You and I Both. It was rather painful to listen to.

Wayne Brady ftw!
OH MY CRAP TFO!
There's something wrong with my phone camera!

My carpet isn't green and neither is the parquet floor. And I'm pretty sure that my feet aren't green either.

Okay it's kinda cool but I would like to be able to take normal photos again!

edit: anticlimax. I just had to restart my phone and it went back to normal. The last time I turned it off was for bio paper 1. Serene says "maybe it's telling you that you should start saving the environment"

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

I'll be flying off for real for real on 9th Feb, which seems to be looming like a imminent storm.

Term1: 12 February to 9 April
Term2: 27 April to 26 June
Term3: 13 July to 18 September
Term4: 5 October to 2 December

I should be coming back in June/July and definitely in December. Maybe I'll go visit Helena the space invader in Sydney during the April break. I'll be missing so many birthdays! Even more sad! But I suppose a reason for me to scrooge on presents :D

don't worry twin I won't kill your hamster

Monday, November 24, 2008

life is boring now.

I never thought I'd say this but I sorta miss school. At least there were friends to keep me company through the torturous hours of lessons (misery loves company). And I must admit learning new stuff could be kinda fun like retarded facts about how whale reproduction could possibly be the cause of rising sea levels.

Oh no and time's passing so quickly and I'll have to leave soon :( so sad :(((

Prom is pictured as a glamorous affair

SUAY SUAY SUAY
  1. My right slipper came apart and I had to draaaggggg my foot in my useless slipper down an escalator, through the underpass, up an escalator, down some stairs, through puddles of cigarette-ash-and-other-unidentifiable-dirt-filled water, up some stairs, down some stairs, down an escalator and finally from one end of wisma to the other before I could buy a pair of overpriced (though very pretty) slippers to replace them.
  2. A bad toothache worsened throughout the day. I think I have a cavity. At least I hope it's nothing more serious than that. We'll see.
  3. In the bus, I accidentally dropped my 'shoe bag' and it landed with a loud THUMP and slid out of my reach before I could retrieve it towards the bus doors. Omg. Thank you to the person who helped me pick it up :D
At least Madagascar 2 was enjoyable. AND O'S ARE OVER :D

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

My mum's so odd.

"(rubs hands together) Can you hear my hands?"
"uhh yeah."
"My hands are making a singing sound."
"what???"
"My hands are making a singing sound!"

Don't even ask me what she meant. I don't know either.

And I'm totally addicted to Whose Line is it Anyway! I've now been squandering all of my free time on that instead of on geo challenge (it got boring) and word challenge (Tammie will probably just beat my highscore again anywyay).

Why can't they air shows like that in Singapore?! Rather than rubbish like Heartlanders and Singapore OK. I think Singaporeans deserve a good laugh.

"Hi can we take a photo with your Obama?" - Serene

PENGUINS!

haha so funny

I believe it was Jay Leno who made a comment about HSM and Saw. "One was a gruesome onscreen torture that was difficult to watch and the other was about a guy with a saw."

Okay so HSM wasn't as riveting as Being There, nor was it anywhere as touching as World Trade Center and it certainly wasn't as witty as Monty Python BUT I wouldn't go as far as to call it torture. (Just not worth more than $6)

I think Brenda, Karyn, Serene and I really pissed off everyone around us making retarded comments and laughing like idiots. But can you blame us for laughing when the only thing shown on the screen is Zac Efron's face drenched in water and like he's dying? Or noticing that Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu have gained weight since HSM2?

I love the songs though. And I now understand why Ryan is Serene's favourite character :)

The thing I don't understand is why Ryan is almost always only shown with Sharpay and not with Kelsi. That's like what.. incest? They, rather unfortunately, never fail to remind me of the Stranz and Fairchild Van Waldenberg from Blades of Glory.

don't you see the similarity?!

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Are you freaking kidding me. As if powerpuff girls wasn't enough, there's now 出ましたっ!パワパフガールズZ, Demashita! Pawapafu Gāruzu Zetto?, roughly They're Here! Powerpuff Girls Z. To borrow Serene's words, "its oh-too-kawaii"

Hyper Blossom, Powered Buttercup and Rolling Bubbles. Yes indeed. Serene and I both saw "Powdered Buttercup".

Oh and this is Utonium Z. (professor utonium in a suit).

He uses his cyber suit to fly and fires lasers from his gloves and his forehead. His main attack is the "Uto Beam".

This is Peach Z. Prof Utonium's son's dog. Yeah besides a supersuit, he has a son now too.

Peach Z fights with a nunchaku made of bones. While he has no main attacks, Peach Z is roughly a combination of Bruce Lee and Yoda from Star Wars: Episode II in fighting style.

And what really takes the cake is this. Their battle cry is "The Lovely Fighting Science Legend: Powerpuff Girls Z!"

Sometimes, I seriously question the mental stability and comprehension levels of people in the world.
Say hello to the 44th President of the USA.

He's also the first African American president. Joe Biden is now the first Roman Catholic vice president.

Isn't this cool? It's quite a radical change for America. I mean, previously the blacks in states like alabama couldn't even vote! And now, they have a black president. Serene says that Mr Jo and Karyn both think that Obama's going to get assassinated in the next few years. I think there'll probably be attempts?? but Bush is still alive.. so Obama will likely survive too.

hello world

Nadal has on cheekopek face here. This is for you sub! with your fetish for cheekopeks!

Anyway Nadal's missing Shanghai because of a knee injury :( but the good news is that Gilles Simon is replacing him!
